Alone and  lonely Confused and bewildered Don't you go Downtown. Got worries but all the noise in the world Won't chase the one's in your head. You talk about the beautiful noise of the city's traffic. You linger on the sidewalk where the  Street dwellers pee. Where cannabis lingers heavy in the air. Perhaps you'll forget your cares. Where the light's of gunfire is so much brighter there You can forget all your troubles,  then you'll really care  you might be killed. Oh what a thrill! Downtown It's no longer what it was. All the hussle and bussle and buzz You'll be dead when you're Downtown No finer place to die than Downtown Every evil thing's waiting for you there. Don't hang around and let the bad people surround. There are movie shows  where you can go elsewhere. I know. Maybe you know some other places to go to Where your friends are close. So many years I questioned And moved left. Then one day, 23rd of September In 1979 I'd say, I turned right. Madam Desiree, Children tugging at your skirt. Did you know ignoring them really hurts? And while she's lying on the bed. She's listening to all the voices in her head. Not born in Amerika; So who pays the rent? It's an expense the State observes. Even more than she deserve! Thursday afternoon she dresses like a nun. Friday evening she thinks salvation has been won. What can I give to you  This Christmas? What can I give you In thanksgiving? You've done so much for others. You've been the perfect lover. You've done so much for others. You've been the greatest mother. Better days are coming. You deserve it all. Better days are coming. You deserve a windfall. I'd like to give you the world. Or a necklace of pearls. Anything your heart desires. What would you want to acquire? You deserve it all. You deserve to stand tall. In this life you may not have done it all. But whatever you did, You deserve it all! The world is at the end Of just another year. What did you send To each who are dear? Do you know it's Christmas Time? Do you know it's commercialisation is a crime? Do you fund the pot coz it makes you feel good when you've got a lot? Aren't you ashamed When the ones who should gain Themselves are giving from their own meager domain? Do you know it's Christmas time? What does that mean? It's not just lights and sparkling decor of any kind. Nor the town square manger scene. War and famine Old and young  never finding your labours done. God has come to you and them That everyone may be enlightened before the world comes to an end. It's the greatest gift  having been  Given from the first day unto the last. So you should ask, What must we do to welcome God Himself Through the flesh of a tiny child? Let go of yourself You are holding on so tight Let go of your willfulness Just Be there Let the Light of this New Dawn Be, still in the Divine Movement.
